Commissions

Commission an artwork of your home, your place of worship, the place you met or were married, second home or just your favourite place, the choice is endless. The result is a beautiful hand painted original artwork signed and presented by the artist.

Jilly will work closely with you to establish the best angle and perspective of the subject, what needs to be included, enhanced, changed and removed to produce your desired artwork. Due to the nature of the materials, the time taken to create an artwork and the weather, Jilly prefers to work from photographs. She normally does the photography herself following an initial consultation to ensure she achieves the optimum aspect and architectural details are captured. Jilly will also work from your photographs, if required.

Commissions start from £400 and are subject to complexity and scale. Please see the sections below for more information on how a commission works.

Private Commission

Commissioning a painting of your home can capture wonderful memories, creating a time capsule and everlasting reminder of good times shared. It doesn’t have to be a family home, it could be a wedding present or a gift for a friend – a place that has particular significance for them. You may also have a favourite holiday destination, a building you love, the church where you were married.

What do you get? You will receive the original hand painted artwork in fine line ink and watercolour of your chosen building. It will be supplied in a mount ready to fit a standard frame. Should you choose, you can also order additional fine art prints (with your own selection of limited editions numbers – all hand signed by the artist) and even greeting cards. A wonderful way to stay in touch with family and friends.

How does it work? Following the brief and photography/sketches, Jilly will then create a fine line ink artwork over the loose pencil sketch. This is where the details of the subject and its surroundings come to life. Due to the complexity of some of the subjects, this line work can take a long time to create, especially with the detail and ornate craftsmanship of some buildings. The work is then finished in watercolour, enhancing colours and detail that she sees in the subject, pulling the piece together.

Business Commission

Business commissions are for those who wish to use the artwork for social media, branding, marketing and revenue generation through sales of cards and merchandise. Your building is one of your biggest assets so why not put it to good use.

Jilly produces commission artwork, a high-resolution scan of the original with a licence for use with social media promotion. The example below was a client who wanted both an original watercolour (for the owners) and second artwork in her ‘Splash’ style, to work with their bedroom colour palette.
